Tom Hall
(aka Flattop Tom) has been dancing professionally
since 1987. Tom specializes in "swing" dancing, an umbrella term for a
variety of styles that includes East and West Coast Swing, Lindy Hop, and Jitterbug.
He is known for his high-energy style which employs wild tricks and
sometimes even aerial
moves (flips).
Flattop
Tom has
won numerous Swing dance contests. His footwork has been seen on the big screen in motion pictures such as
"Swingers", "Shake, Rattle and Roll", "Shout", "Cry
Baby", "Great Balls of Fire", and "La Bamba", among others, and
on the small screen in "Beverly Hills 90210", "Swing T.V." (pilot) and
"Good Rockin' Tonight". He has also lent
his talents to commercials
for Alaska Airlines and Rolling Rock Beer.
Although
his passion is performing, Tom
is equally sought after for
his teaching skills. Whether coaching a Hollywood actor for a swing dance scene in an upcoming film
or prepping an engaged couple
for
their "first dance" on their wedding day,
or giving an ice-breaker lesson at a corporate party, Tom's unique combination
of technique, personality, patience and enthusiasm inspires even the most reluctant of
dancers. Tom has a Master's Degree in
physical education and has been a high school teacher and coach
since 1984.
